Commerson's Dolphin

Commerson's Dolphins are small and agile.
They have a white body and throat, while the pectorals, fluke, head,
Genital patch and dorsal area are black.
The dorsal is slightly curved.
The genital patch is shaped like a teardrop in males
but is more rounded in females.

The Commerson's dolphin was named Philibert Commerson,
who first described them in 1767 after he sighted
them in the Strait of Magellan.

Their pods contain 2 till 12 individuals.
Hector's Dolphins mate in spring or summer and give birth
around 11 months after.
Young Commerson's mature at 6 to 9 years old.
