Long-beaked Common Dolphin

The Common Dolphin was first recognized as one species.
Since a few years this has been changed in the Long-beaked,
Short-beaked and recognized by some scientists the Arabian Common Dolphin.
Long-beaked Common dolphins are more muted in color.
They also have a flatter melon and a thicker, longer beak.

Map Range:

 

Common dolphins normally travel in pods up to 50
individuals but sometimes form 'superpods' which can
contain 2000 individuals.

Common Dolphins mate in spring.
Gestation lasts about 11 months.
Young Common dolphins reach maturity at 5 years old.
In the wild they reach the age of about 20 years.
