Maui Dolphin

The Maui Dolphin is a subspecies of the Hector's Dolphin
Found only around Maui Island. There are only about 100 individuals left.
Of which to be thought only 30 breeding females.
Maui Dolphins are small and have the same physchical description as
Hector's with slight differences in color or marking.

Cephalorhyncus hectori maui

Length:

1.2 to 1.6 m/ 4 to 5 ft.

Weight:

40 to 60 kg/88 to 132 lbs

Age:

Up to 20 years

Total Population:

100 to 120 individuals

Maui dolphins are critically endangered.
They are protected by several laws and
On one of the campaigns of the WWF

Maui Dolphins mate in spring and give birth
around 12 months after.
Young Maui's mature at 8 years old.

Captivity

There are currently no Maui Dolphins in captivity.
No past cases are known of Maui Dolphins in Captivity.
